If you really want to run new alsa on a kernel that old, you will haveto backport the functions you mentioned from a kernel in which theyappear.
The code you need will be in Linus' git tree athttp://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=tree
You might consider modifying the alsa autoconf system to supply thesefunctions if they are not present in the kernel.
Backporting new features to old kernels is not a trivial task and willrequire kernel hacking knowledge. The difficulty increases with thedistance between the introduction of the new feature and the target ofthe backport.
