What exactly did you test for recording mic input?

In many cases, it's a mixer configuration problem.  So, please show
the generated file via "alsactl -f somefile store" to see the mixer
status.  Also, /proc/asound/card0/codec#* files are great help for
analyzing HD-audio problems.
