Clemens, Thanks for your response. My speakers are on order and should be in towards end of week. Before I try speaker-test however, I want to understand what is going on. When I start jack with qjackctl, the connect tab shows payback_1 and playback_2. I assume this is stereo. My headphones when connected to the sound card seem to be playing stereo. When I select the setup tab and change the Output Channels to 4 (or 8), qjackctl won't start. How do I set up jack so that I can see playback_1, playback_2, playback_3 and playback_4? What am I missing? Is the module for the sound card deficient or do I need to set some config files? Any further guidance would be much appreciated.
