Sorry to admit but that's true. I used to listen some of my music CD'sripped to loseless FLAC format. I am using xmms with some additionalsound effects processor and it works nicely under OSS or OSS fromwww.opensound.com. With ALSA (xmms has native support for ALSA too) itsounds terribly and additional effects are distorted and not usable.It's of course 44100 material while card is working at 48000so upsampling is the case.So better resampling default plugin is a must IMHO.
Sound quality is very important and if we can use additionalsound processing plugins which do stereo to 5.1 or headphone modesound transformation there must be proper quality resampler becausein other case results will be not acceptable for many users.
