Title: Which ac97 'patch' implentation is the best example of how to support a codec?

Hello;

Would any of you care to suggest which implementation I should look at as a good example of a functioning ac97 codec that has working surround sound?

It seems like there is a wide array of ways to do it, but some card implementations seem to be very complex and some seem to be very simple and I don’t yet understand why there is such a wide difference between differeing implementations.

Tnx!
