I'm using alsa 1.0.11 right now, but I also have tried 1.0.12 and 1.0.13-rc2. I tried model=acer, but it doesn't work either.

Try adding "model=acer" to your modprobe.conf file.  Also, which version
of alsa are you trying?

Could you post the output from "cat /proc/asound/card0/codec*"?  This
will help identify the exact codec that you have.
