That did not help. The 0:7c and 0:7e registers still had the wrong values, assuming that 4e53 and 4300 are the right values. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Raymond - 06-15-06 08:59 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- alsa-driver-1.0.8rc1 (ens1371) can be configured and compiled without any error on linux-2.4.22-1.2199.nptl , this means the compilation error is specific to kernel 2.6.x wood's hack don't fix read/write codec bug, it just create the mute switch and volume switch(low/high) BY FORCE since snd_ac97_try_bit() and check_volume_resolution() fail as snd_es1371_codec_read() return wrong value When wood unmute and change the volume using amixer/alsamixer, wood can hear sound from ens1371 ONLY when snd_es1371_codec_write() work.
