Summary: kernel module fails to load for AD1986A chipset on
ASUS A8N-VM
Description:
With alsa-1.0.11-32, SuSE 10.1 Yast Hardware Sound detects hardware as
"MCP51 High Definition Audio" but cannot complete setup. With SuSE10
(<alsa-1.0.11rc3), yast would not detect any card.

Similar to fixed issue #0001793. Dupe of issue #0001632, but
miscategorized/flamed.

Tried all 'model=' and 'position_fix=' options I could find in other
issues. Nothing allowed kernel module to load.

I also tried OSS, module also failed to load...

It should be part of the kernel.

I have the AD1986 soundcard, I was not aware that ALSA could support it.
there are some driver and docs for the AD1985 but (intel8x0, via82xx)!
what is it??
why intel8x0 or via82xx, which chipsets do they refer to? motherboard
one?

I have in my laptop the AD1986 soundcard, that's all I know about that!
