Summary:                    Recording of USB sound doesn't work
Description: 
arecord gives the next error message on:

$ arecord -D hw:2 -t wav -f S16_LE -d 10 file.wav
Recording WAVE 'file.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 8000 Hz,
Mono
arecord: pcm_read:1303: read error: Input/output error
$ 

after about 10 seconds. The recorded sound is a kind of metalic click in
silence. at playback the duration is between 1 and 2 seconds.

Kernel updated to 2.6.16-r7 (Gentoo) alsa-driver to 1.0.11
still no cigar.

Using the logitech headset:

$ arecord -D hw:1 -t wav -f S16_LE -d 10 file.wav

arecord: pcm_read:1345: read error: Input/output error
$    

The attached file is the result of a 10 second wistle.
