A carjacker led Dallas police on a 40-50 minute pursuit through city streets and divided highways, ending between a runway and taxiway at Dallas Love Field. About 12 police vehicles and one off-duty police vehicle was involved in the chase. The suspect, a white or hispanic male (large build), left the city streets and entered onto airport property, eventually crashing through a closed gate on the perimeter of the airport. Both runways were immediately shut down and six aircraft were advised to hold their current position. Eventually the carjacker drove the stolen pickup down a then active runway and upon reaching the end of the runway, was forced off onto a grassy medium and finally boxed in. A felony stop (weapons drawn) was made on the vehicle, and about 6-8 officers were able to successfully remove the suspect (lone occupant) from the vehicle, handcuff him and place him in a patrol vehicle. This chase started after an attempted traffic stop, and ended on airport property, resulting in the damage to airport property and interference with the operation of airport activities. Obviously many agencies are involved in this incident (local and government), but who would normally take immediate jurisdiction over the custody of this individual? I'm sure the suspect will be charged with carjacking, felony evading arrest or detention, damage to airport property, but what charges could be brought against the suspect reference his entering federal controlled airport property? -- Regards, Richard Whitenight Arlington, Texas "'Being schizophrenic means never having to walk alone." <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> If you wish to unsubscribe from the AIRLINE List, please send an E-mail to: "listserv@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".
