Inaugural flight departure from
New York
to
Shanghai
WHAT: Continental Airlines will become the first U.S. carrier to
inaugurate scheduled daily nonstop service between its New
York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport and Shanghai,
China. Demand for business travel on this route that links
the financial center of China with the financial center of the
U.S. is strong, with Shanghai being one of the most promising
international markets previously without daily nonstop service
from New York. Inaugural festivities will celebrate the Year
of the Ox and include brief remarks from officials with
entertainment by Chinese acrobats and dancers performing the
Chinese Ribbon Dance and Lion Dance.
