According to FlightAware, the only 747 departing DFW between 3:00 and 4:00 PM CDT Wednesday was UPS2918, a 747-200, bound for ONT. It is not uncommon for UPS to lease in aircraft for added capacity, or to operate a new acquisition in its old livery awaiting a UPS paint job. So that would be my guess, although it's hard to tell without a tail number. (By the way, there are no 747-500s; the -400 is the latest in service, and the future 747-8 and 747-9 will not be seen until 2012 or so. Photos of supposed -500s are (sometimes well done) fakes, like this one: http://www.cardatabase.net/modifiedairlinerphotos/search/photo_search.php?id=00000091 ) -- Michael C.
