But he will be honored when the new airport terminal opens Oct. 28. The board voted to name the terminal Col. H. Weir Cook Building and a key roadway on airport property the the Col. H Weir Cook Memorial Drive. The Indianapolis airport authority had created a special committee last month to study the issue. The committee was headed by Airport Authority chief Randall Tobias. Tobias finds himself between two competing interests -- advocates who want to restore the war hero's name as a way to honor all military personnel and a business community that wants Indianapolis and the airport to be synonymous. It's been 32 years since Cook's name was taken off the title.
