ExpressJet's 22 daily flights out of L.A./Ontario International Airport and its six flights out of Long Beach Airport will end Sept. 2. The carrier began offering flights out of Ontario in April 2007. Maria Tesoro-Fermin, a spokeswoman for the Ontario airport, says ExpressJet generated more than $5 million for the airport in its first 12 months. Tesoro-Fermin says losing ExpressJet is "a huge loss" because the carrier trailed only Southwest in passenger traffic at the airport. The airport will lose almost a fifth of its daily traffic and 400 employees when ExpressJet's service ceases. Officials at the Long Beach airport say they have not calculated the financial impact of ExpressJet's decision. Airport spokeswoman Sharon Diggs-Jackson says ExpressJet is the only airline that flies between Long Beach and Reno, and Fresno and Monterey. The airline, blaming rising fuel prices, announced earlier this week it will cease commercial flights nationwide. ---------------------------------= ------------------------------------- Copyright 2008 AP <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> If you wish to unsubscribe from the AIRLINE List, please send an E-mail to: "listserv@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".
