Call for Contributions: Computational Models, Software Engineering and Advanced Technologies in Air Transportation: Next Generation Applications [Apologies for multiple/cross posting] Dear Colleague: We are pleased to invite you to submit a contribution to the book Computational Models, Software Engineering and Advanced Technologies in Air Transportation: Next Generation Applications, edited by Li Weigang and Alexandre G. de Barros, to be published in 2010 by IGI Global. The deadline was extended to June 15, 2008 In this book, we propose to bring together a select group of scholars who share similar research interests to collaborate on a single publication. We intend to gather the most recent research results from all over the globe on information technology (IT), computational models and other advanced technologies applied to air transportation. This publication will contain 15-20 comprehensive chapters of 7,000-10,000 words each and is scheduled for publication in 2010. We would like to invite the leading researchers from various research centers to present their current research and findings as a chapter in this book. The book will provide a much needed reference on the state-of-the-art of advanced tools and techniques that are either available or under development to support the maximization of the efficacy and efficiency of air transportation systems. It will also provide subsidies to professionals, researchers and academics on the underlying theory and current applications for use in the future advancement of the existing body of knowledge. The objective of this book is to disseminate information and educate professionals, researchers and academics on the state-of-the-art in information technology applications to air transportation. The book will contain multi-disciplinary contributions from the highest reputed authorities in the fields of information technology, computational applications and algorithms applied to air traffic control and management, airport design and operations, and airline management and operations. It is envisioned that the book will become a valuable reference for professionals, researchers and academics in the field. Topics include - but are not limited to - the use of Information Technology (IT) in: - Air transportation economics, demand and forecasting - Airline strategy, management and operations - Airport economics, planning and operations - Airspace management (CNS/ATM) and air traffic control (ATC). Should you accept this invitation, we kindly request that you submit a 2-3 page chapter proposal for review that clearly explains the mission and concern of your proposed chapter. The submission must be made by e-mail on or before June 15, 2008 to weigang@xxxxxxxxxxx Should your proposal be accepted, you will be notified by July 15, 2008, and given until September 30, 2008 to submit your full chapter which will be sent for double-blind peer review. The book is scheduled to be published by IGI Global (formerly Idea Group Inc.), www.igi-global.com, publisher of the IGI Publishing (formerly Idea Group Publishing), Information Science Publishing, IRM Press, CyberTech Publishing, Information Science Reference (formerly Idea Group Reference), and Medical Information Science Reference imprints. This publication is also supported by the Brazilian Air Transportation Research Society - SBTA. Please give this invitation your utmost consideration. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
