The Seattle-based carrier, a unit of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK) already flies to the Hawaiian islands of Oahu and Kauai. The airline also announced that it will begin seasonal flights from Anchorage, Alaska to Maui beginning Oct. 31. The move comes after Aloha Airlines and ATA Airlines announced bankruptcies and stopped flying to Hawaii from the mainland. Alaska officials hinted that additional Hawaii service might be forthcoming. "We're continuing to study other possibilities for more service," said Brad Tilden, Alaska Airlines' executive vice president of planning and finance, in a statement. Flights from Seattle will leave at 8:20 a.m. Pacific time and arrive at 11:35 a.m. Hawaii time.
