Continental pilot union boosts war chest on possible merger 8:17:01 AM ET 3/11/2008 NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The pilot union for Continental Airlines (CAL) has voted to increase funding for its merger war chest in the event the carrier attempts to consolidate. Late Monday, the Air Line Pilots Association said if a merger is deemed to benefit executives, Wall Street financial groups and legal firms at the expense of pilots, it will use "all lawful means necessary" to scuttle the deal. Analysts have said Continental could merge with American Airlines parent AMR Corp. (AMR) if a deal between Delta Air Lines (DAL) and Northwest (NWA) is announced first.
