Continental Pilots Key to Airline's On-Time Rating

Tuesday November 6, 6:00 PM EST

HOUSTON, Nov 06, 2007 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The Continental pilots reacted today to Continental Airline's ranking in the on-time ratings for airlines for September. Continental Airlines was ranked first in on-time performance among the major legacy carriers and fourth overall.
"I'd like to recognize the performance of our pilots in helping Continental achieve an 88 percent on-time arrival rating for September," says Capt. Tom Donaldson, the elected leader of the Continental pilots, who are represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int'l (ALPA). "This is only one of many measures of industry performance that reflect the hard work and dedication of Continental employees. As we continue our contract negotiations, which were begun this past July, we will continue to stress the importance of pilots to the company's continued success."

The pilots of Continental, in their last contract ratified in April 2005, gave more than $200 million annually in concessions. "Our pilots have given a lot to ensure the continued success of Continental," says Capt. Donaldson. "It's time to be recognized for the investment we made in our futures."
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world's largest pilot union representing more than 60,000 pilots at 41 airlines in the U.S. and Canada.
