Spoke with my cousin who flys a 767 and the critical element is V1 speed=2E=

The problem for the crew on the Comair flight would have been that the the=
y
would have configured the take-off for a 7,000 ft runway, not 3,500 that
they were actually on=2E So even if they had tried to abort before V1 they=

would not have had enough runway anyways=2E He gave me a link which explai=
ns
take-off speeds and performance

The intersection of runways 22 and 26 at Bluegrass Airport, Lexington,=20
KY is 38d02m24=2E29s N, 84d36m04=2E44s W=2E

It is reported tape recordings have crew of Comair flight and tower=20
discussing taking off from 22 but the aircraft departed from 26=2E

Any pilots have opinions on the choice of a sure crash by aborting=20
against the chance of flying at inadequate speed=3F
