Chautauqua to operate 44 regional jets as COEX
CO has selected Chautauqua Airlines (RP) to provide and operate 44 regional=
jets as a Continental Express (COEX) carrier beginning in 2007, under a ne=
w capacity purchase agreement.
RP, a subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings Inc., will operate 50-seat re=
gional jets on CO=E2=80=99s behalf, under the COEX brand. CO will continue =
to schedule and market all of its COEX regional jet service.
=E2=80=9CIn selecting Chautauqua, we=E2=80=99ve identified a regional opera=
tor that can uphold our high standards for reliable, quality service, while=
delivering that service at competitive rates,=E2=80=9D Larry said.
=E2=80=9CWe know the Continental team and are delighted to be a part of the=
ir network,=E2=80=9D said Republic Airways Holdings president and CEO Bryan=
Bedford. =E2=80=9CWe look forward to providing excellent service to Contin=
ental and its customers.=E2=80=9D=20
In April 2006, CO announced that RP would operate any of the aircraft that =
XJT elected to return to CO under the CO-XJT capacity purchase agreement. X=
JT=E2=80=99s decision to retain all 69 aircraft provided CO with the opport=
unity to examine options for replacing the regional capacity provided by th=
ose aircraft. RP will supply the 44 aircraft that it will operate under the=
new capacity purchase agreement. CO currently has no plans to replace 25 o=
f the 69 50-seat regional jets retained by XJT.
