Continental Picks Republic Unit To Operate Up To 69 Jets Tuesday April 18, 5:11 PM EDT Dow Jones Newswires Continental Airlines Inc. (CAL) (CAL) selected a Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (RJET) ( RJET) unit to operate up to 69 regional jets that will be withdrawn from its capacity purchase agreement with ExpressJet Holdings Inc. (XJT) (XJT) should ExpressJet (XJT) choose to return them to Continental. ExpressJet (XJT), Houston, is required to notify Continental, also of Houston, whether it will return any of the aircraft or continue to sublease them at increased lease rates and fly them outside Continental's hubs under a brand other that Continental Express. Republic Airways (RJET), Indianapolis, unit Chautauqua Airlines (RJET) will operate any aircraft returned by ExpressJet (XJT) as a second Continental Express carrier at Continental's Houston; Newark, N.J.; and Cleveland hubs.
