Re: article: One-stop flights: a Wright solution?

Don't doubt for a minute that both airports would survive. But in those
(Wright Ammendment) days they wouldn't have. Detroit upgraded Detroit
Wayne Major (DTW) and basically pulled all passenger traffic out of Willow
Run. Chicago did basically the same. They rebuilt O'Hare and basically
pulled all passenger service from Midway. Dulles was built and the Congress
would not let them restrict traffic at National (Guess where they flew out
of). As far as New York LaGuardia was basically domestic traffic and
Kennedy (Idlewild) was basically international traffic.

I fell todays airport situation doesn't warrant the need for the Wright
Ammendment.

I don't see why two airports cannot serve two airports. New York has
both LGA and JFK; and Washington D.C. has DCA and IAD; and Chicago has
MDW and ORD.

IIRC the big concern about it was the DFW folks were told or afraid that

basically if everyone didn't move to DFW then basically no one would go
and
the airport would not pay for itself.
