Actually, it is B6 that has been pushing Airbus to get winglets on the A320.  
As it is, the A320 Family doesn't have as much range as the 737NGs and that 
delta only expands with the winglets.  This will close the gap a bit and also 
allow B6 to stop taking weight restrictions on the BUR-JFK route.
