Sure they did.. The idea in this case is take those 69 aircraft and have another (read lower cost operator) operate them for Continental. The new company will have lower benefits, lower wages, higher work hours hence lower cost.. This is also a scare tactic from Continental to ExpressJet in terms not to ask for better working conditions when the renewal on the contracts come..

Bizarre.

ExpressJet was a creation/spin-off from Continental.

Usually companies of such a genesis remain 'in-bed' together.

Didn't Continental only recently sell off their last portion of their  
holding?

Maybe it's a ploy to justify better rates?
