I bet the management of Kakaska didn't even realize this was going to be the outcome of the decision they made. They saved how much by this move? Hmm.. in exchange they got planes that were delayed dramaticaly, damaged and removed from service for few days, bad PR, very unhappy customers.. All, to save few million dollars per year...
 
The image of AS took a nose dive with their "cost cutting" measures.. The management is incompetent. I'd rather have a better functioning company, with happy customers and make 10-20 million per year less than what they have now. 
 
Then again, that's my philosophy..
