Simon / All:

Well, this is tragedy in that this man didn't travel
with his med's.

He (or whom ever was responsible for him) should have
had him beefed up for the long
trip. And as this was a HNL to LAX flight, no place
to put down. I do recall an incident where
a soccer team also subdued a man and as a result, he
died. I worry that this man start a dangerous trend
where the wrong person is going to do something and
another tragedy will result.

As for the MIA incident, I still believe that the air
marshal shouldn't have shot the man dead. I don't
believe that a terrorist would have behaved this way
(see Richard Reid, the shoebomber) and if the
marshal's had waited, or done more to investigate the
claim, a man would be alive today.
(Yes, I recall the arguments of the dangers of
waiting, etc.) But that's all over now. Nothing can
be done to bring this poor fellow back.

I'm just glad that I'm not the one in the marshal's
place. Some may argue that I'd make a lousy sky
marshal. I would agree. But, I fall of the side of
caution and I'm not about to apologize for it.

Perhaps airlines should make an announcement that
before anyone board, show us your RX's and let's make
sure you're armed for bear?
