I have talked a manic-depressive into committing himself for treatment, but it was an exhausting all day effort, and he didn't claim to be armed (He was going to steal a B-17 from our local air base). I'm afraid the only persons who could have prevented this were the man or his wife, and we have no idea why he went off his meds nor what she had to put up with.
