Today is expected to be very windy, with rain heavy at times. There is a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms. High temperatures are expected to be in the upper 50s. South winds of 25 to 40 mph with local gusts up to 60 mph are expected. The winds will decrease in the late afternoon. Tonight is expected to be windy, with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening. Rain showers are likely through the night. Low temperatures are expected to be in the mid 40s to lower 50s. West winds of 10 to 25 mph are expected, with gusts up to 35 mph in the evening. San Francisco International Airport reports expected delays on arriving flights of about 75 minutes starting at 9 a.m. and lasting all day, according to airport spokesman Abe Eaglin. The airport is staggering its flights at greater intervals than usual because of poor weather, low visibility and strong southeast winds, Eaglin said. Instead of 60 flights per hour, the airport will schedule 30 flights to arrive per hour. Eaglin said people going to pick up friends and family at the airport should call the passengers' airlines before heading out. Delays are not expected for flights departing from San Francisco. The airports in Oakland and San Jose are not anticipating any delays. Copyright 2005 by Bay City News, Inc.
