Airbus did not disclose financial terms of the deal, but the list price = of the planes is an estimated 3.42 billion euros ($4.03 billion). Buyers of multiple planes often get discounts from the list price. The deal firms up a commitment announced in May by the Arizona-based airline, formed when the former America West Holdings Corp. acquired US Airways and adopted the US Airways Group corporate name. Developed as Airbus' answer to the fuel-efficient Boeing 787, the mid-sized A350 is set to enter service in 2010, two years after its rival. Airbus so far has 155 orders and commitments from 11 customers for the A350, designed to carry 253 passengers. Airbus is 80 percent owned by European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. Britain's BAE Systems PLC owns the rest. ----------------------------------= ------------------------------------ Copyright 2005 AP
