It's also a purpose-built 70+ seat aircraft operating unit, in that 
Transtates was limited from operating such aircraft by one or more 
mainline scope clauses that permit the code-shared use of defined 
"commuter aircraft" 50 seats and smaller.  Much as Republic was 
originally intended to flank Chautauqua.
