All told, the 12 767-300s the airline is ordering are worth $1.73 billion at list prices, though airlines typically negotiate discounts. Absa Cargo, an affiliate of LAN Airlines, took delivery of the first of its new 767s late last week. A second freighter is scheduled to be delivered to LAN in October. The remaining jets will be delivered through October 2008. Boeing said LAN and its affiliated companies plan to use the new freighters to expand and renew their fleets. The 767 freighter can carry 64 tons of cargo roughly 3,800 miles. Shares of Boeing rose 58 cents to close at $66.33 Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2005 AP
