A friend asked me and I didn't know, so I'll bow to you.

When flying from the USA to Vancouver, British Columbia (YVR), on the
return flight back to the States (let's say YVR-ORD), do you clear customs
in YVR or when arriving at ORD?

I remember years ago flying DTW-YYZ and clearing customs in YYZ - both
when arriving and when returning to the States.
