It did not identify specific flights or cities. US Airways says it does not expect to eliminate service to any city it currently serves. The airline will decide which planes to retire in the coming weeks, and make its decision based on which planes are least fuel-efficient and which ones face the most expensive scheduled maintenance. "As we continue talks with potential investors, the elimination of unprofitable flying is a key topic of conversation," says US Airways executive vice president of marketing Bruce Ashby. "The retirement of these 10 aircraft can be accomplished with little impact on customers or employees." The company says it doesn't expect the fleet reduction to result in any employee furloughs. US Airways (OTC BB UAIRQ) , in talks with America West about a possible merger, also restated its first quarter net loss to include $91 million in pension costs. Its revised first quarter loss was $282 million, compared to a net loss of $177 million in the same quarter a year ago. ? 2005 American City Business Journals Inc. Roger EWROPS
