The main reason they did this, which is of course not mentioned here, is that one of the main reasons World has not aquired 767s up until now is their reluctance to spend the money needed to certify the airline for ETOPS. With North American, they get an ETOPS certificate out of the box, along with 8 aircraft and some lucrative contracts for a very reasonable price.
