Overuse of autopilots

Hi guys,

Very interesting article in my paper about the overuse of autpilots
nowadays, possibly leading to pilots that are deskilled in flying. Maybe
some of you are interested.

http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/transport/story.jsp?story=624483

It makes some salient points.. but there are two sides to the argument.
Isn't it true that 'pilot error' is often cited as the principal cause of
an accident... perhaps an autopliot wouldn't have made such a mistake?

Anyway, might stimulate some discussion...!

Kind regards,

Alastair
