Where are they going to fly this thing for its cold and hot weather testing? Is there a runway long enough and when it gets there, will the airport be closed due to the thing takes up the whole place.

Hi Jackson,
Yes. There was great detail about this very subject about a month ago concerning JFK's airside infrastructure. FAA even went as far as to follow 747s to monitor their trend of maintaining the taxiway centerline.
Our resident 'airport tech specialist' David Kaufman can fill you in with details of runway, taxiway etc requirements....
2 airlines have already announced JFK inaugural flight dates for the type.
(trying to find the message...anyone readily have it by chance?)

Before, I also found copious amount of info doing a Google search. "a380 airport requirments'.

  Gentlemen,
After the A380 was officially rolled-out earlier this year, I started wondering just how many airport administrations have actually laid down plans or launched work to expand, improve and generally upgrade existing installations. Aside rather obvious changes to terminals, I would imagine that quite a number of airports will have to increase runway, taxiway and tarmac PCN values just to allow the monster's operation. I know that Singapore Changi is coughing-up US$ 1.2 billion in airfield and terminal upgrade work and similar plans have already been outlined for Sydney's international airport. I further understand that KLAX authorities are also outlining the necessary mods to handle the A380.
My question is as follows: does anyone here have any knowledge as to what other airports administrations are actively engaged in preparations to handle the A380. I suppose that KJFK would be among them....

  Cheers
  Jackson
