Cessna Aircraft Company announced today that it would offer AMSAFE's airbags for aircraft on its 2005 single-engine models as standard equipment. The AMSAFE Aviation Inflatable Restraint (AAIR) deploys away from the pilot from the lap belt of a three-point restraint system, using standard buckles and existing attach points in the airplanes. The airbags will also be available as retrofit equipment on Cessna singles produced since 1997 for an estimated price of $6,600. Cessna expects to deliver the first airbag-equipped models in January.
