CINCINNATI -- A fight over food at the airport may leave Tri-staters with a bad taste in their mouths, WLWT News 5's Juliette Vara reported.

Many employees at Gate Gourmet, the food service provider for Delta, came to work and were sent home Wednesday.

According to USA Today, Delta and Gate Gourmet are in a contract dispute, Vara reported.

The newspaper quotes a bankruptcy expert that suggests some Delta suppliers may be requiring payment up front. For now, food service has been stopped on some flights.

Rick Merritt, a Gate Gourmet employee told WLWT employees were told to go home because Delta was not having food service. The employee said they were not told why.

WLWT attempted to contact Gate Gourmet and Delta representatives. WLWT did not receive any return calls.

Employees were told to call Wednesday afternoon to see if they should return to work Thursday.
