Appx 62 miles from ORD. Guessing an hour to two minimum I'd try a google search on Chicago Third Airport Al ----- Original Message ----- From: "Clay Wardlow" <clay.wardlow@xxxxxxxx> To: "Allan9" <exatc@xxxxxxxxxx>; <AIRLINE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, August 05, 2004 1:09 PM Subject: RE: SFGate: Airline executives warned to ease flight delays at O'Hare in Chicago Wow! That's really cool. How much of a difference (in time) between downtown-ORD and downtown-Peotone? Have any plans/designs been drafted/submitted? I love this stuff! I really don't think the airlines would care how far you had to travel. ORD is mainly connecting flights. There big objection is they would not want to have to build new "support" facilities. They would not want to support two airports. ORD would have to be closed the same as DEN was or it will never fly. AIrlines will not support two/three airports. The City of Chicago will not give up ORD totally. You'd end up with a DFW/DAL situation and maybe another Wright Ammendment. I assume it would be far away from downtown Chicago. Are the people of Chicago willing to drive (I'm guessing) 60 miles away from downtown to get to the airport? Is that realistic? I'd LOVE to see a large, new airport for Chicago and for the US. Hopefully we've learned a few things from Denver. The Mayor doesn't want a new one built because he'd lose the power/jobs/income tax. The suburbs don't want the noise expansion would bring. Go back and read the newspapers from the late 80's and early 90s and just change the dates.
