Pt. Magu is not just some "airfield". They have something like 4-5 long runways, 2 F-14 squadrons based there along with a great deal of transport traffic (that flies over my parents house). They also have a major air show there every year. The airport has been mentioned many times as a joint-op commercial airport <<Well we know apparently this "Airfield" can handle a 747 on its runway how many runways does this station have? if I remember correctly -a few years ago when Alaska airlines plane had crashed into the Ocean wasn't one of their choices this same airfield? but they tried to get to lax (probably cause Lax had customs and they had a base here) but as we know that plane crashed into the ocean>>
