The Southwest Airlines corporate headquarters building was evacuated for
about two hours Wednesday after an unclaimed satchel found in a restroom
was X-rayed and appeared to have an explosive device inside.=20

Officials said the item turned out to be a common, everyday object and
was not an explosive.=20

The satchel was found in a women's restroom in the lobby of the building
in the 2700 block Love Field Drive, near Denton Drive and Mockingbird
Lane, just off the premises of Love Field.=20

"It was not a hoax,"said Ginger Hardage, a Southwest Airlines
spokeswoman. "Out of an abundance of caution, the contents of that were
X-rayed."=20

When X-rayed, the device inside appeared to have batteries and wires
attached to it, officials said. Officials declined to say what the
object was because they said they want to dissuade copycats.=20

About 3,000 airline employees were allowed to re-enter the building
about 10 a.m.=20

Earlier this week, a Southwest Airlines baggage handling facility at
Love Field was evacuated after a package set off an explosive detector
during a routine inspection. It turned out to be a false alarm.=20
