Available seat miles, which measure capacity, were up 12.4 percent in February over the year-earlier month, the agency said. Delta Air Lines carried the most domestic passengers in February, and its main hub, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, remained the nation's busiest airport, with 2.8 million passenger boardings. SNAG ON A380 DELIVERIES Virgin Atlantic, which had been one of the initial customers for the Airbus super-jumbo A380 jet in 2006, put off deliveries for more than a year of the six planes it had ordered. Airbus has said it has more than 125 orders for the A380. Virgin, a unit of the Virgin Group said it delayed deliveries because not enough world airports - including Los Angeles International - had begun making renovations necessary to accommodate the huge double-deck plane, which will carry from 550 to more than 850 passengers, depending on how it is configured. Los Angeles is considered a vital link because the A380 will be used on many trans-Pacific flights. BUSINESS TRAVEL SPENDING JUMPS Universal Air Travel Plan, the global payment network for corporate air travel, said that the volume of spending handled by its charge cards exceeded $7 billion in 2003, a 10 percent increase over 2002. Growth rates accelerated significantly starting in October 2003 and continuing into this year, with March spending exceeding all forecasts, the company said. Universal Air Travel processes direct payments to airlines from companies buying airline tickets on its charge cards. The Air Transport Association, a trade group for domestic airlines, says that domestic revenue passenger miles grew 11.9 percent in April, compared with April 2002. SPARTAN BUT CHEAP EasyHotel, a London-based economy hotel group, said it would open a hotel in central London later this year offering nightly rates as low as $9 (though the average room rate will be about $52). The hotel, at 14 Lexham Gardens, will have rooms resembling economy cabins on cruise ships. Rooms will be about 90 square feet and furnished with a double bed and a toilet, shower and sink. Telephones or televisions will not be available. Rates will vary, with the cheapest rates going to those who book earliest in off-peak times. Clean sheets will be provided, but guests need to bring their own towels. EasyHotel (www.easyhotel.com) is owned by easyGroup, the parent of the low-cost airline easyJet, which said it planned to expand the budget hotel concept to other world cities.
