Boeing lands big 737 order from low-cost carrier in Brazil GOL Linhas Aereaes SA, a Sao Paulo, Brazil-based low-cost airline, has pl= aced an order for 43 737-800 passenger planes from Seattle-based Boeing C= ommercial Airplanes Group. = = The order includes 15 firm orders and options for the rest. The total ord= er would be worth about $2.7 billion at list prices, though those prices = are usually discounted. = GOL begins receiving the 15 firm-ordered 737-800s between 2007 and 2009, = while the options can be exercised between 2005 and 2010. = The new planes will join the 18 737-700s and four 737-800s GOL now operat= es profitably, continuing GOL's use of the single-type fleet model pionee= red by U.S. low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines. GOL began operations in = 2001. = Excluding the GOL order, airlines have ordered 30 of the Renton-built 737= s so far this year, compared to 10 orders in 2004 for all other Boeing mo= dels combined. = =A9 2004 American City Business Journals Inc.
