Orderly consolidation - who goes with who?

Consider that the big 6 US airlines (Delta, US Airways, Continental,
United, American and Northwest) are all in various degrees of
'trouble', what is the most rational consolidation plan?

Based on routes, fleet, hubs, who should be paired up with who?

United and US Airways? - United's IAD and US Airways CLT hubs maybe
worth rationalizing, and their fleets are somewhat compatible, or are
they?

American and Delta? - Compatible fleets? Both 'strong'ish' at JFK. Does
ATL/CVG compliment DFW/ORD?

Northwest and who?

Continental and who?

Northwest, Delta and Continental?
