SEATTLE, April 1 (Reuters) - Boeing Co. (BA), the world's No. 2 jetliner =
maker, on Thursday said it delivered 76 aircraft in the first quarter, up=
7 percent from the same period a year ago and on track to meet its full =
year target of 285.

Boeing's Seattle-based commercial jet unit shipped 55 of its most popular=
 jets, the 737 narrow-body, followed by eight wide-body 777s and a variet=
y of other aircraft.

The company delivered 31 jets in March, including its first wide-body 767=
 since last November.

The 767 order backlog has shrunk to 24 amid slow sales. A pending order f=
or 100 767-based air refueling tankers from the U.S. Air Force has been r=
epeatedly delayed by an ethics scandal and government inquiries into the =
structure of the deal, valued at more than $20 billion. =
