It's not a direct comparison. I don't think train conductors have to go back to the simulator every so often with the possibility of losing their jobs. Let us not forget the medicals.. Also, I have friends making $16K/year BEFORE taxes as airline pilots. Another interesting point is the fact that the best paying airline, is not a pax airline :) (FedEx has the best pilot salaries).
