Military transport jet crashes east of Interstate 15

9:45 p.m. March 10, 2004

SAN DIEGO ? A small military transport jet crashed and burned Wednesday
night in brush east of Interstate 15 on the Miramar Marine Corps Air
Station, authorities said.

The UC-35a aircraft burst into flames when it went down around 8:15 p.m.
Rescue teams were searching for survivors, the San Diego Fire Department
said in a statement.

Four people were believed aboard the plane, which was not believed to be
carrying ordnance.

The UC-35a is a military version of a Cessna Citation, capable of
carrying up to eight passengers or cargo.
