Bob / All:

The Piedmont I knew flew from Charlotte, North
Carolina into Boston and other areas in the South and
Mid-Atlantic in the early 80's. They had B737's and
B727's. They were very efficient. Their planes were
white a think red trip and bold blue 'Piedmont'
letters. This Piedmont was taken over by US Air in
the gooble-up days when this business-style was
fashionable. I'm sure US Air, in its present state,
wishes it hadn't taken them over now. Not that
Piedmont was a bad carrier. In fact, Piedmont,
service wise and efficiency wise, was much better than
US Air. But shortly thereafter, US Airways couldn't
digest the financial cost of the acquired carrier, if
memory serves.
