JERUSALEM, Dec 22 (Reuters) - Continental Airlines, the No. 5 U.S. carrie=
r, said on Monday it will resume its second daily nonstop flight between =
Newark Liberty International Airport and Tel Aviv beginning March 31.

Continental suspended its second flight in November 2000 after the start =
of a Palestinian uprising hurt travel to Israel.

Continental, which will use Boeing 777 aircraft on the route, is the only=
U.S. airline to offer nonstop service between the United States and Isra=
el.

American Airlines (AMR) opted to halt service on the route when it took o=
ver TWA, which operated daily nonstops for decades, while Tower Air went =
bankrupt and Delta (DAL) stopped its service from JFK immediately after S=
eptember 11, 2001. National carrier El Al Israel Airlines (ELAL) also ope=
rates daily nonstops between Tel Aviv and the United States.

Tourism to Israel plunged some 75 percent in 2001 and 2002 but has reboun=
ded somewhat in 2003 due to a decline in attacks on Israelis by Palestini=
an militants. =
