There were plenty of Cactus customers who reedemed their Flight Fund rewards
and flew to Honolulu. Once they were taken care of, that left low yield
paying customers. Honolulu was not only a destination, but a stopping point on the
way to the Far East for AmWest. What they lost in revenue on the way to HON
would be made up on thru service to Japan. One little problem here...Ed
Beauvais somehow thought after losing Tokyo rights, businesss travelers would be
just as happy flying to Nagoya. That leg of the route is where crewmembers at
times outnumbered passengers and Ed found out quickly how expensive an empty
B747 can be to fly!
